Priya Gurumurthy lives in Novi with her husband, Swaminathan Gopalakrishnan, and their two sons, who attend Novi Community Schools. She currently serves as a Global IT Director in the automotive industry, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience and a data-driven, results-oriented mindset to her role on City Council.

A dedicated public servant, Priya has contributed her time and expertise to the Novi Public Library Board, the Novi Housing and Community Development Committee, and Novi Youth Assistance. She is also a proud graduate of the Novi Ambassador Academy.

Public service runs deep in her family. Her husband, Swamy, serves on the City of Novi Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Commission, and their son Vishal served on the Novi Youth Council for four years.

Priya holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas and is a passionate advocate for women/girls in STEM. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Council of Women in Technology.
